Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon

Quick Take: Released in 1973 and dubbed as a concept album. Awesome cover, even iconic. Recorded at Abbey Road. This was the bands sixth album and most people would say the one that put them into mainstream ears. It's the first Pink Floyd album I bought and one that I listen to a lot when I go to bed. It's two big songs are "Time" and "Money", but the whole thing is an absolute beast.(In a good way.) There are so many different sounds flowing in this album it's amazing. From clocks and mumbling voices to cash registers they all work together well. When the music hits, it's over for me. I am in a complete daze. I think the album is timeless and one of the best "complete" albums ever made. I can listen from "Speak To Me/Breathe" all the way to "Eclipse". I think the best track on the album is "Time". All the sound effects in the beginning to the opening lyric are crazy and the bass is outstanding. All the others are great to like "The Great Gig In The Sky","Money", "Us and Them", "Brain Damage", "On The Run" and "Any Colour You Like". While you can listen to individual songs this album I believe needs to be fully listened all the way through to be appreciated. It's wildly entertaining with the collection of different instruments and musical formats they used in making the album.

Positives: Funky, creative, experimental, thought provoaking, mostly mellow tunes with just enough edgyness

Negitives: None really.

RATING: Five out five baby.

Bottom Line: Buy It! Well worth it. Find it on Ebay or Amazon. If only like Death Metal or Country, chances are you won't like this but if like good rock and roll you will love it. But if you like rock you should already own it. Rolling Stone ranked it number 43 on the 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time and they have pretty good taste. All in all if you never listened to Pink Floyd or if your curious buy this album or "Wish You Were Here". When I am curious of a new band I tend to lean on a greatest hits collection. To see how a band goes from new musicians to veteran ones. If your like me and are curious about Pink Floyd I would save your and not buy "Echoes". Buy this instead, great to start with.

ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have decided that since i have an almighty following of two people and an awesome forty-two profile views that i might try something new. I have always been appalled yet interested in reviews of music. The way "critics" view albums. They tend to use wonderful words I can't pronounce or words that I will use once or twice in my life. They tend to over exaggerate and make things more complicated then they really are. i also don't need them to dumb it down any either. i am just saying that "man, this is rock and roll, man!" it's supposed to about having fun and cutting loose. Now I certainly know that not all rock or metal lets you take a feel good trip. Sometimes it's about certain subjects that are all to real, but even with that in mind it still a great trip. right? So, what I want to do is put my own spin on past albums (because you can't tell me today's rock is any good) like I said before I won't dumb them down but I won't complicate it either. Just cruise the internet for reviews there filled with P.H.D. quality writing. A lot of them are from well educated people and well thought out essays. And some magazines are completely biased to some bands and show no pity to other great bands when they review. Here you will hear from the heart and some of the mind. Feelings and honest opinions from an open minded music listener from classic albums to yes maybe even from today's music scene. Why all honesty and no b.s because I am "nobody" and I am not getting paid. I will never meet these bands and I only hold loyalty to what rocks.
I know the whole world or even more the one persons will not be viewing these awesome some what entertaining reviews but that's not the intent. The intent is "because I want to do it" and if there is feedback that will be cool to. I want to talk music find out what my CD collection is missing, find out what bands other people like or hate. So let me know (if your not to busy) what bands you like and if you think the reviews are accurate and what you think of the album. I will only review what's in my collection and that collection rocks. Yeah baby! hopefully I can start tomorrow with......
